The Wood Brothers recorded their most recent album, Paradise, at Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye studio in Nashville, and they have been touring ever since with their next DC stop at 9:30 Club on Saturday, Feb. 11.

The new album, their fifth studio full-length, marks the first time the three band members have shared songwriting collaboratively as they all found themselves living in Nashville. Chris Wood (upright base) and Oliver Wood (guitars) along with multi-instrumentalist Jano Rix bring their brand of “soulful folk” (as Paste magazine said) to bear on new songs like “Never and Always” and “Snake Eyes.”

In a review of Paradise for PopMatters, Jedd Beaudoin said, “The playing and singing are as impeccable as you might expect, but it’s the songs that shine brightest and make you forget all about the musicianship, leaving you with nothing more to do than sit back, relax and take in another smart, smoldering effort from a familial collective that outshines most of the same kind.”
