DC’s Time Is Fire released a second EP, Angels, on March 31 via Electric Cowbell, and the psychedelic dance quartet perform next at Comet Ping Pong on Saturday, May 13.

Fronted by Iranian-born Sufi poet Kamyar Arsani, Time Is Fire is an electric live band, playing music both instantly familiar and strangely new to the ears at the same time. Time Is Fire deftly mixes Sufi, Afropunk, electro, psychedelia, and other influences while blazing their own trail.

“On the local quartet’s newest EP, their pan-cultural influences continue to grow,” observed Washington City Paper.

Angels was recorded at Inner Ear Studios Bastille by Eamonn Aiken and mixed by Brendan Canty (Fugazi/Rites of Spring). Time Is Fire enlisted Smoota from TV on the Radio to play trombone on the title track “Angels.”
