On Sept. 29, Lucinda Williams released This Sweet Old World via Highway 20/ThirtyTigers. This remarkable album reimagines and reinterprets Lucinda’s seminal 1992 album Sweet Old World in celebration of its 25th anniversary. Lucinda is touring to mark that anniversary with a concert at The Lincoln Theatre on Monday, Oct. 30.

Produced by Lucinda and Tom Overby, This Sweet Old World includes fresh interpretations of songs such as “Prove My Love,” “Sidewalks of the City,” “Memphis Pearl,” and “Lines Around Your Eyes.”

The Sweet Old World features Williams’ touring and studio band, including guitarist Stuart Mathis, bassist David Sutton, and drummer Butch Norton. Guitarist Greg Leisz, who participated in the early sessions for the original 1992 album, also appears on the new album.

“Everything’s different now. It’s a different band, it’s a different studio, my voice is different,” said Lucinda. “It’s like a new album.”

In addition to reworking the original album, Lucinda also revisited four additional tracks: “Factory Blues,” “Dark Side of Life,” John Anderson’s “Wild and Blue,” and John Leventhal and Jim Lauderdale’s “What You Don’t Know.”

Needless to say, this will be a quintessential performance from an artist revisiting some of her most cherished work.
