Neo-psychedelic duo MGMT released Little Dark Age, their fourth studio album, via Columbia Records on Feb. 9. The gents undertake a North American Tour on March 2 with an early stop at The Anthem in DC on Thursday, March 15.

In 2007, MGMT released Oracular Spectacular, their debut album, which put them on the map with breakthrough singles like “Time to Pretend” and “Electric Feel.” Andrew VanWyngarden and Benjamin Goldwasser followed up that debut with Congratulations in 2010 and a self-titled album in 2013.

“The East Coast psych-pop duo MGMT trades big hooks for stacks of gauzy synths on its fourth album, which nudges the group’s sound into the electric bedroom-pop space championed by off-ball auteurs like Ariel Pink and Gary Wilson. You’re gonna want this one around when the winter chill subsides,” said New York Magazine of the new album. “‘Me and Michael’ and ‘James’ luxuriate in openhearted Eighties-synth romanticism,” said Rolling Stone of two standout tracks.

The above video tells a story while having a bit of fun. The story unfolds as MGMT steals a song written by Filipino band Truefaith. The resulting success leads to revelations of plagiarism followed by failure. MGMT bounces back and asks Truefaith for forgiveness. As a clever addition to the story of the video, Truefaith recorded a song called “Ako at si Michael.”
