The Damned, “the greatest surviving British punk band,” have a hot new album, Evil Spirits, and they are coming to perform at the Black Cat on Saturday, Oct. 20. You can win a meet and greet with The Damned, along with tickets to the show, with Parklife DC!

Dave Vanian and Captain Sensible bring their colorful collective to DC in celebration of more than 40 years of music, proving The Damned to be one of the best UK bands of any era. Read our interview with The Damned keyboardist Monty Oxymoron to learn more!

In a sentiment with which we wholeheartedly agree, Louder Than War declared, “The King’s people have drunk from the Fountain of Youth. This truly is a band at the top of its game. Long Live The Damned.”

Watch the official music video of “Eloise” by The Damned on YouTube:

(Editor’s note: Due to demand, this contest has been extended because Captain Sensible retweeted it!)

  1. Yes the Damned are “the greatest surviving British punk band,” and as the greatest surviving punk fan, I would love to see them at the Black Cat on Saturday, Oct. 20. “SMASH IT UP” is my favorite!

  2. Phantasmagoria is one of my all-time top albums and I like that period the best overall, but if I had to pick a song, I’d have to say they knocked it out of the park with “Neat, neat, neat”. Classic punk rock.

  3. Cant wait to see The Damned, Ive been listening to them since I was 12 and Im almost 40. I cant pick just one song “Melody Lee” from Machine Gun Etiquette and “Sanctum Santorum” from Phantasmagoria both still give me the chills when I hear them.

  4. It’s amazing that “the first punk band” not only survives but thrives with a great album like Evil Spirits. Hard to pick a favorite but I’ll got “Wait for the Blackout” immediately springs to mind so I’ll go with it.

  5. It may be a bit sentimental, but I have a soft spot for punk rock love songs. So I hope The Damned play Love Song, and not just for me.

  6. Please play “Curtain Call” at my funeral:

We’re coming up from the deep
    The lizard sheds its skin
    Night obliterates the day
    And then the fun begins

  7. ‘Neat Neat Neat’ was the first song I ever heard in early 1977 on the ‘Weekend’ show which spelled SNL once a month.
