Moogfest, the top synthesizer festival and conference, celebrates its 15th anniversary in Durham, North Carolina, on April 25-28, 2019. The festival will feature a keynote presentation by Martin Gore of Depeche Mode as well as Daniel Miller of Mute Records, along with performances by Thomas Dolby, Kimbra, GAS, Tim Hecker (performing with the Konoyo Ensemble), Matthew Dear, US Girls, and more.

You can win a pair of general admission tickets to go with Parklife DC!

“Enjoy the Silence.” “Personal Jesus.” “People Are People.” “I Feel You.” These are just a few of the classics Martin Gore has given the world. As chief songwriter for New Wave legends Depeche Mode, Gore has helped define a genre while driving the darker precepts of dance music from the ‘80s onward. This year, he heads up Moogfest’s daytime slate with an intimate conversation in the Carolina Theatre.

Moogfest has also added Daniel Miller, founder of seminal synthpop and industrial label Mute Records, for both a conversation and a DJ set.

Inventor, composer, and 2012 Moog Innovation Award winner Thomas Dolby joins the lineup for three rare appearances, including a live performance and a two-way interview with Buzzfeed News Sr. Investigative Reporter and 2018 Pulitzer Prize finalist Jason Leopold. Dolby and Leopold will converse on their shared passion of truth seeking among creative topics. A professor at Johns Hopkins University and digital audio pioneer, Dolby will also perform a musical set on Saturday evening at the Carolina Theatre combining his stylized use of set, visuals and music for enhanced storytelling.

Watch Thomas Dolby perform a live concert in the Roland Cloud on July 26, 2018:

    • I have loved Martin Gores compositions since I was first introduced to his music with People are People up through his solo career and last DM Album SPIRIT! I would be ecstatic to go!

  1. All over seeing Martin Gore especially if they add on more than the talk! Of course that means I’d also want to see Daniel Miller plus as many additional artists as possible. Heck, there’d be a spreadsheet involved!

  2. Birthday weekend! Would love to make a little roadtrip…so much to experience…beeline to MLG’s talk.

  3. Been a fan of Depeche Mode for nearly 30 years, so naturally, I’d love to go and hear Martin Gore’s talk. Also would love to see Daniel Miller too, because without him, so many great synth acts probably would have never seen the light of day.

  4. Depeche Mode and Thomas Dolby were my world when I was in college. I played their records till I wore out the grooves in the vinyl. “Just Can’t Get Enough” on repeat got me through finals. At our graduation, every time they would announce a major that was a Bachelor of Science, the entire student body would erupt with “SCIENCE!” Needless to say, the graduation ceremony took about twice as long as usual.
