French twin sisters Lisa-Kaindé Diaz and Naomi Diaz are better known as Ibeyi. The downtempo duo bring their catalog to 9:30 Club on Sunday, June 9, and you can win tickets to go with Parklife DC.

Daughters of Cuban percussionist Miguel “Angá” Díaz, Ibeyi have two full-length albums to their credit — Abeyi and Ash, released in 2015 and 2017 respectively via XL Recordings.

In a review for AllMusic, Thom Jurek praised the sophomore album for being rooted in lived experience.

“In the end, Ash is many things: militant, vulnerable, and tender; it is urgent yet unhurried, its sharp edges unapologetically exposed. It is rooted in struggles and seeks victory, not deliverance. It is not only memorable, but indomitable and beautiful,” Thom wrote.

  1. I heard some of their music a few years ago and liked it, but my familiarity ends there. I would enjoy seeing them live.
