Stabbing Westward celebrated the 20th anniversary of their third studio album, Darkest Days, with a tour last year. The industrial rockers remain on the road, and now the quartet hit Union Stage on Sunday, Sept. 8. You can win tickets to see Stabbing Westward with Parklife DC!

In a review for AllMusic, Stephen Thomas Erlewine said Stabbing Westward remained “intriguing” with their third record.

“Stabbing Westward unexpectedly rode to alternative semi-stardom in 1996 when their second album, Wither Blister Burn & Peel, became a hit, largely because there was no new NIN album around at the time. That meant they were one of the few industrial metal groups to actually have a hit, and that’s because ‘What Do I Have to Do’ had enough hooks to be an MTV Buzz Clip,” Stephen wrote.

  1. Playing Ungod now and Nothing takes me back to throwing myself around the dance floor at some very small and sketchy night clubs back in the mid-90s.

I’m not sure I ever realized that they were popular as I felt like I was the only person giving them serious love in a town where the radio played pretty much Classic Rock or Country.

  2. My First concert was the sex pistols Roseland ballroom nyc 1996. That’s where I was introduced to stabbing westward. That’s where I was also introduced to a full force drum stick to the side of my head. Huge welt the size of a drumstick and it almost took out my eye. The guy that actually caught the drumstick gave it up to be after seeing my injury. Best concert ever. Approximately two years later while I was in the service I saved up my money to go to see stabbing westward at the 930 club in Washington DC. My roommate stole my money for cab fare. But I still had enough to get a T-shirt or cab fare. I chose a T-shirt which I still have today over cab fare. Needless to say I did not take my roommate to the show and I was a little upset. The 10 mile walk back to the barracks was awesome. So to go ahead and say what is a good song off an album that was truly perfect at the time. It’s like cutting out the Mona Lisa’s smile. Anytime working sets were still readily available and used widely. It was very rare to find an entire album that you can play from start to finish and not want to yank the cassette out out of disgust. So I can’t pull out one song or some BS industrial moment. For something that was truly perfect in my life at the time. From the concert to the guest hosting of 120 minutes this was one of the best albums and bands of all time

  3. In all honesty, I can’t pick just one. I have to hit the random play all button. Violent Mood Swings, Drugstore, Shame, Way Down, Everything I Touch….

  4. If I Must pick a Stabbing Westward song. It would have to be “Save Yourself”.
Followed by “Drugstore”. And the list goes on. Too many to choose.

  5. It has to be Shame for me. It’s the song that introduced me to the magic that is SW and never fails to get me pumped. Deep and dark lyrics with pounding riffs.

  6. Would love to see Stabbing Westward! It’s been since early 2000’s last time I’ve seen them. My favorite song is Shame and Save Yourself.

  7. It’ll always be “Save Yourself” for me. Loved the dark tone of the music video, loved the cinematography, and always believed that the video matched up perfectly with the lyrics for the song.

  8. WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO to win these tickets to see Stabbing Westward. It would be SO WRONG if I didn’t win. Just a real SHAME. My favorite track is SAVE YOURSELF, so please award me these tickets to brighten these DARKEST DAYS. Thank you.

  9. A candle burns here in your honor. See the shrine I’ve built for you. There’s nothing left inside me. Nothing left inside but you.
