Effervescent Lizzy Plapinger, better known as LPX, danced and beamed her way through an invigorating opening act recently to warm up The Anthem for her pal Marina, and she thoroughly wowed the gathering crowd.

On Sept. 18, LPX appeared as a late addition to the bill, prior to Daya and Marina, at The Anthem. But Lizzy arrived ready to dance the night away and steal hearts in the process. Whipping her hair and hitting the floor, the diva in the making radiated infectious enthusiasm and buoyant grooves throughout the room.

As LPX, Lizzy has released two EPs to date — Bolt in the Blue in 2018 and Junk of the Heart in 2019. The AV Club said her latest EP cements LPX as “the American Robyn.” “I’m too rock for pop. I’m too pop for rock. I make music for those who don’t care about what box it fits in,” Lizzy said.

Earlier this year, LPX revealed a cinematic video for “Give Up the Ghost,” a single from Junk of the Heart. Directed, edited and produced by Alex Colby and LPX herself, the video finds LPX whipping through New York storming the dawn and facing the day full speed ahead, windows down, arms out the window, hair in the wind literally driving from Brooklyn to upstate; metaphorically harnessing the electricity of moving through phases.

In addition to “Give Up the Ghost,” Lizzy has been singing other LPX songs, including “Tightrope,” “Global Warming,” and “Might Not Make It Home” — all from her two EPs — while opening Marina. Oh by the way, this irrepressible dynamo also owns and operates Neon Gold Records, which has published many exciting acts, including Marina, Passion Pit, Ellie Goulding, Gotye, The Naked & Famous, Icona Pop, Charli XCX, and Tove Lo

LPX next performs in DC to open X Ambassadors at the Lincoln Theatre on Oct. 29. Buy your tickets online now and arrive early to dance with Lizzy.
