Make no mistake: young DC rockers One Way Out can fill a room. Not only can they pack a room full of fans but they can play like seasoned champs, filling a space with the sound of rock ‘n’ roll.

If that weren’t enough, the gents open for the incredible Cat Janice at Union Stage on Friday, Feb. 28, to celebrate the release of a new single, “Black Walls.”

On Feb. 28, One Way Out releases “Black Walls,” accompanied by a music video. The single includes a B-side cover of The Stooges’ 1970 hit cult-classic “Down on the Street” — how awesome is that?

One Way Out meld classic and blues-inspired ’70s rock with progressive elements inspired by heavy metal, hard rock, and jazz. The band also takes on the aggression of punk emanating from the local DC scene and the philosophies of more modern acts, such as King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, The Murlocs, and Oh Sees.

“Black Walls” is their first release since last year’s full-length debut album Cosmic Beat, which recently was nominated for Best Hard Rock Album in the 2020 Wammies (Washington Area Music Awards). The band is also nominated in the Wammies for Best Hard Rock Artist and Best Hard Rock Song for their single, “Who Are You.”

Watch the official music video for “Who Are You” by One Way Out on YouTube:

“Union Stage is a pretty special place to us, it’s really where we discovered the music scene here in DC, so it’s very cool to have the opportunity to play here ourselves,” said lead guitarist Jake Schaefer.

One Way Out first played at the venue last August, where they shot the music video for “Black Walls.”

Also appearing on the Feb. 28 bill is Nate Bergman, lead singer and guitarist of Lionize, an internationally touring DC hard rock band, in his first-ever hometown solo acoustic set.
