Guitarist Cory Wong released a new album, Starship Syncopation, in July, and he’s now on a fall tour. He recently performed at The Anthem, where he wasn’t overly concerned with the new record, however!

On Nov. 6, Cory Wong revisited songs from across his career at The Anthem, drawing not only solo material but also songs from The Fearless Flyers, the quartet consisting of members of Vulfpeck.
The prolific Mr. Wong acknowledged his new album, Starship Syncopation, with one song, “305,” which he performed in the middle of the show.

Minneapolis-born Cory Wong is best known for his funky guitar work and touring worldwide playing his original music on the biggest stages. With his most recent DC show, he has graduated from performing regularly at 9:30 Club to The Anthem.
You may have seen him as a guest with the house band on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, as well as a member of Vulfpeck and the Fearless Flyers. Upon meeting Cory, Vulfpeck welcomed him as a frequent collaborator and member of the band, and later the group named their most popular instrumental track “Cory Wong” in tribute.
Lighting up the stage in the band everywhere they perform, Cory remains a cornerstone of Vulfpeck’s storied gigs. Cory has blossomed into a celebrated artist in his own right. To date, he’s released 19 studio albums (14 solo albums, three with The Fearless Flyers, and one with Cory Wong Quartet), four collaboration albums, 10 live albums, one EP, 45 singles (33 as a lead artist and 12 as a featured artist), and over 60 other appearances, according to Wikipedia.
