Spoon is set to ring in the new year at 9:30 Club on Dec. 31. In fact, Spoon have sold out two shows for Saturday, Dec. 30, and Sunday, Dec. 31. If you’re going, don’t miss White Reaper, the garage punk band from Louisville, Kentucky, opening both shows!

In April, White Reaper released The World’s Best American Band, its third studio album, via Polyvinyl Records. Guitarist/vocalist Tony Esposito explained the title of the new album, The World’s Best American Band, saying, “Because we are the best. Just like Muhammad Ali was the greatest, you gotta say it out loud for people to believe it.”

“True to its title, the record collects the band’s classic rock influences into a half-hour of beer-swilling, riff-fueled nuggets,” said Entertainment Weekly in a review.

The band has been touring all year, including a stop at Austin City Limits, while building up its fanbase. As Paste magazine said, “Onstage is where the band’s wonderfully scuzzy blend of pop-punk and garage rock goes stratospheric. It’s rock for rock’s sake, outfitted with the gleefully immodest stage vocabulary of an ‘80s hair-metal band: kick-flips, dueling guitar solos—cocky gestures the average introverted indie band avoids like asbestos.”

The 9:30 Club shows are sold out. But if you’ve already got tickets, arrive early for White Reaper!
