The Who appeared at Jiffy Lube Live on Saturday in an early date in their Moving On! American Tour. Jules McNamara was there to shoot Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey, and company.

With the Moving On! Tour, The Who perform with symphonic accompaniment. On stage, Pete and Roger appeared with guitarist/backup singer Simon Townshend, keyboardist Loren Gold, bassist Jon Button, and drummer Zak Starkey, along with an accomplished orchestra.

Across 24 songs, The Who drew heavily from Quadrophenia and Tommy, which is what you want from a strong show by The Who. The opening segment of the concert leaned heavily on Tommy with numbers like “It’s a Boy,” “1921,” and “Amazing Journey.”

The final third of the show featured orchestral accompaniment and leaned on Quadrophenia with tunes including “The Real Me,” “Drowned,” and “Love Reign Over Me,” among others.

The Who closed the show with perennial favorite “Baba O’Riley” from Who’s Next (which when released in 1971 provided a nice bridge between the two mega-concept albums — Tommy in 1969 and Quadrophenia in 1973).

And it’s amazing to think that Pete and Roger are still going strong after celebrating 50 years of The Who recently. The Who will release their first album of new songs in 13 years later this year, the band announced. So look for more of The Who on the horizon.
