Anderson .Paak released Ventura, his fourth studio album, in April via 12 Tone Music and Aftermath Entertainment. The upbeat R&B singer has been touring a lot, and he recently made a stop at MECU Pavilion in Baltimore. There, Chris Castillo caught him in action.

In February, Anderson won his first Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance for his single “Bubblin.” The song was a non-album single released by Aftermath Entertainment in 2018.  In a review for Pitchfork, Marcus J. Moore characterized the song as a “trap-infused bounce beat with heavy drums and rumbling bass.”

In March, Anderson wrapped Andy’s Beach Club World Tour with The Free Nationals, visiting MGM National Harbor along the way on Feb. 20.

Not ready to yet quit the road, Anderson appeared at MECU Pavilion on May 28 to promote Ventura.

In performance, Anderson gave a lot of love to Ventura and his 2018 album, Oxnard, with five songs apiece out of the 22-song set. But second album Malibu (from 2016) stole the show with six songs of the set, including concert opener “Heart Don’t Stand a Chance” along with “Am I Wrong” and “Lite Weight” in the encore, among other numbers.
