The 4-time Grammy Award winners Maná recently arrived in Baltimore on on their current Vivir Sin Aire World Tour and played a sensational concert for fans, who were not only energetic throughout the evening but also sang along with each word of each song. It was an amazing night seeing the supergroup from Mexico play at the terrific CFG Arena.
The first thing that comes to mind is that the show started very late on the evening of Oct. 11, but for the majority of the Latin crowd in attendance, this late hour suited them well. All those in this arena of thousands in attendance had a great evening of music, song, and dance. Maná had no opener, and the show was nonstop fun.
Maná started with a outstanding version of “Dejame Entrar,” with a highly enthusiastic Fher Olvera very excited for the show, followed by “Manda Una Senal” and De Pies a Cabeza.” The music was fantastic, and the crowd was on their feet screaming and applauding throughout the entire show.
Watch the official music video for “Dejame Entrar” by Maná on YouTube:
Maná, one of the biggest international bands of all time, could easily be classified as a classic rock band of the 1970s with four members that play heavy rock and progressive rock with a Latin beat and reggae. Those four members include Fher Olvera on lead vocals and guitar, Alex Gonzalez on drums, Sergio Vallin on lead guitar, and Juan Calleros on bass.
The show in Baltimore highlighted for everyone the reason for their success as each individual member is an expert on their instrument — and simply put they play incredibly well together. Olvera on vocals is the natural leader of the band. Maná has had such international success that they have been involved in political issues and human rights issues over the years. This activism has definitively made the world more aware of the band as well.
One of the highlights of the evening was Maná playing a song they did with Santana called “Corazon Espinado,” which set the place a blaze with singing, dancing, and applause. But also thrilling was at about the place of the 12th song, Maná’s drummer Alex Gonzalez played a phenomenal 20-minute drum solo, similar to the style of solo you would have seen John Bonham of Led Zeppelin or Neil Peart of Rush play years earlier.
Maná then reconvened after the drum solo to the other end of the arena to play several songs, including “Ella” and “El Rey” before closing out their show in great form with a spectacular offering of their classic song “Oye Mi Amor.”
For those who hope to see Maná live, this is a great opportunity to see the band in several locations around the USA during this 2025 tour. The band is in great form and sound amazing; they are playing some of their best songs from the last few decades.
