GWAR turned Nevermore Hall into a slaughterhouse of cosmic proportions on Nov. 18, drenching the Baltimore crowd in fake blood, bad jokes and gloriously heavy riffs on the Return of Gor-Gor tour.

From the moment GWAR crashed into “The Great Circus Train Disaster,” it felt less like a concert and more like a midnight horror movie that somehow learned to shred.

Leaning hard into story mode, GWAR stitched together new-era epics and deep-cut carnage. “Crack in the Egg” and “Bring Back the Bomb” hit early, with the band weaponizing chugging riffs and gang vocals while various unfortunate “victims” were dispatched onstage. “Lot Lizard” and “Tyrant King” kept the momentum nasty and theatrical, complete with over-the-top banter and crowd taunting that only made fans scream louder.

Mid-set, the room felt like a war zone as “Hail, Genocide!” and “Womb With a View” collided in a blur of distortion, spurting fluids and cartoonishly evil pageantry. The pit never really stopped moving, especially when the band launched into “Fuck This Place,” a perfect sledgehammer of a singalong for anyone needing to howl at the world. “America Must Be Destroyed” and “Mother Fucking Liar” underlined how comfortably GWAR moves between old-school shock rock and newer, sharper thrash.

For the encore, GWAR went full apocalyptic cabaret with “Pussy Planet” before closing the night on the immortal crowd favorite “Sick of You,” sending fans back into the cold Baltimore air soaked, hoarse and grinning.

The chaos was well prepared by a bruising undercard: Blood Vulture opened the evening with raw power, Dwarves followed with unfiltered punk sleaze, and Helmet delivered a tight, punishing set that set the table perfectly for GWAR’s intergalactic bloodbath.
