If you were looking for a great alternative to the Super Bowl on Sunday night, Kimbra delivered with passion. The native New Zealander turned New Yorker released a new album, A Reckoning, only a few weeks ago, and she turned up at 9:30 Club to perform all 10 songs of the new record in an emotive show.
On Feb. 12, Kimbra opened with new song “Save Me,” and she allowed A Reckoning, her fourth studio album, to dominate the 15-track set. Her encore consisted of a two-song coupling that pulled the most popular tunes from her debut album and her third album — “Cameo Lover” from Vows and “Version of Me” from Primal Heart.
Kimbra was quite chatty, and she had a strong chemistry with the audience at 9:30 Club, who seemed to love the new songs. Her vocals were powerful and clear as she poured a lot of emotion into the concert selections. She was fearless!

Opener Tei Shi, born Valerie Teicher Barbosa, won over the crowd quickly. She performed songs from her two full-length studio album’s 2017’s Crawl Space and 2019’s La Linda, as well as her 2020 EP Die 4 Ur Love.
Kimbra remains on tour with Tei Shi throughout North America for the next month! Catch them in concert near you.
