Legends of the underground, BONES, Xavier Wulf, and Eddy Baker brought their In Loving Memory Tour to The Fillmore Silver Spring last week, the first-ever co-headlining tour from the three frequent collaborators and friends.
Backed by some creepy black and white projections, three open coffins occupied by their skeleton doppelgängers and a couple of decrepit old trees for the full cemetery effect; the trio stepped through the fog tagging in and out of the spotlight for over two hours with no openers. Serving as each others hype men, the guys performed song after song from their long-lived careers since the era Soundcloud rap.
At The Fillmore Silver Spring on May 31, the Undertaker’s theme music played as the room fell dark and a projection of BONES picking up the other guys in a hearse played on the screen. Xavier started the night off with “First Light” as the guys ran out on stage and greeted the crowd. BONES stopped to give out the rule of “pick each other up” and told everyone to take care of each other before performing “RestInPeace” and immediately starting up the mosh pits. Eddy took over next and kept the energy going with “Nino Brown.” The guys kept passing the baton through the night one song at a time.
With his hair draped over his face the entire night, BONES kept everyone in a frenzy with records such as “CtrlAltDelete,” “Airplane Mode,” and “Red Alert,” while still giving them chances to collect themselves and catch their breath with slow songs like “WhereTheTreesMeetTheFreeway” and “Calcium.”
Halfway through the show, BONES started letting the crowd choose some of the songs they wanted him to perform, the first of which was selected by a girl upstairs in the balcony celebrating her birthday. She along with her friends shouted “MORNING DEW!!” down to the stage to the surprise of Bones and Xavier that she’d chosen the over 13-year-old song from the duo. The guys wished her a happy birthday and asked the crowd to help them remember the lyrics by singing along. Other Soundcloud classics like “Sodium,” “Cemetery Blunts,” and “Weatherman” were also voted for by the crowd.

Wulf kept the room shaking throughout the night with songs like “Hoonigan,” “Check It Out,” and “Request Refused,” while making sure to shout out all the car girls and guys in the crowd just before performing “Akina Speed Star.” Fan favorites like “Psycho Pass” and “Mobile Suit Woe” were sung along word for word by the crowd, while “CrashLanding” and “Thunder Man” started up the first circle pits of the night as the center of the room spun like a whirlpool. The whole crowd shouted out “Who!?” every time X took center stage.
Eddy called out for the moshpit captains to assemble and get the pits going all through out the night. He head-bannged along with the kids in the front rows as he performed records like “Mad Men,” “Puddle,” and “WARZONE FREESTYLE,” but even a song like “Knight Rider” with its sudden switch to an ’80s dance club sound had the same kids grooving along as he performed and even broke out his Carlton dance. He had complete control of the crowd during records like “Ready2Rumble”, “Telescopes” and “LooseScrew” as even the people way in the back ever compelled to bounced around.

BONES jumped down on to the barricades to embrace the fans while he performed “Dirt” and “HDMI” and eventually made his way up into the balcony along with his security, as X and Eddy split the room down the middle from the stage. He reminded everyone to make sure each other was safe and jokingly threatened to never comeback to Maryland if someone got hurt before telling the DJ to drop the beat. As the song built up and the two sides bounced closer and closer to each other the guys chanted “Wait!” and “Not Yet!”, while BONES told them to “Have some discipline Maryland.”
They counted to 3 — and the first line of “Return of the Pimp” finally dropped, sending the two sides smashing into each other turning the entire place into a giant pit. Once BONES got back to the stage they all thanked the crowd for all their love and support, letting them know it’d been the best show of the tour so far.
Limp Bizkit’s “Break Something” played as the guys partied along with everyone else throughout the first half of the song before saying one last good night and leaving the stage before the kids in the pit even noticed they were gone.
The In Loving Memory Tour is about half way through with the boys wrapping things up at Rolling Loud Miami late next month.
