Ty Segall is prolific as a recording artist, both as a solo musician and as the member of various bands. But good luck getting hands on some of his releases — his solo albums in particular, some of which were released on cassette tape, are sought after and coveted by his devotees.
Since he embarked on his career back in the late 2000s, he’s managed to play more than 1,200 solo shows while simultaneously leading or collaborating on different projects. For as many appearances as he’s made, his live gigs are appealing to more listeners all over the globe.
Recently, Segall made his way to Baltimore, where he and members of his two known backing squads — the Freedom Band and the Muggers — filled Union Craft Brewing and nearly blew the roof off the place.

A city with a healthy appetite for loud music and an appreciation for exploratory artists, it turned out to be a fitting spot the night of May 2.
Segall, sporting jeans paint decorated presumably by his own hand, was supported by longtime pal Mikal Cronin on bass, Emmett Kelly on guitar, Ben Boye on keys and Evan Burrows on drums.
This group wielded Segall’s turbulent sound by way of a set that pulled from across his ample song catalogue and thrilled those on hand at the packed brewery.
