Bluesy folk singer Matt Corby has released his full-length debut album Telluric via Elektra Records, and he’s touring in support of it with a visit to the 9:30 Club on Monday, June 13.
Matt gained a lot of attention in his native Australia with several EP releases, but he’s now breaking through in the United States with his new album.
Initially, Matt wrote songs for the album in Los Angeles two years ago, but he threw those songs out and doubled down on his effort to become as proficient as possible in all aspects of music. Matt turned to home studios and wrapped up in a rural cottage in Australia. He wrote and recorded new music for Telluric, and then co-produced it with Dan Hume. MOJO calls the new songs “transcendent gospel-soul.”
