Ra Ra Riot are about to be your best friends. They open for Young the Giant at the 9:30 Club for three consecutive nights, on September 12, 13 and 14!
Currently the first two shows are sold out, so don’t delay in getting tickets for September 14th.
Ra Ra Riot are an indie rock band from Syracuse, New York. The current lineup is Wes Miles (vocals), Mathieu Santos (bass), Milo Bonacci (guitar), Rebecca Zeller (violin) and Kenny Bernard (drums).
The are touring, with the very in demand Young the Giant (three dates at the 9:30 Club after all!), for their fourth album, Need Your Light.
The single “Water” is an infectious ode to casting off your chains to free yourself. Jumping in the water is freedom.

The overall album seems to have a similarly optimistic mood and the acceptance that getting older is just part of life.
The band formed in 2005 and released their first album, The Rhumb Line, in 2008. I remember picking up the CD from the DC Library system and thinking this could be interesting. And it was, especially the songs “Each Year” and “Dying Is Fine”. They went off my radar for a while, but now it should be intriguing to see them perform live and catch up on all of their new material.
