Jangle poppers Sister Hazel made the leap to country with their ninth studio album, Lighter in the Dark, which was released in 2016 via Croakin’ Poets/Rock Ridge. Sister Hazel are on tour, and they perform at 9:30 Club on Friday, July 21. You can win tickets to go with Parklife DC.
The five gents of Sister Hazel formed their band in Gainesville, Florida, in 1993. In 1997, Sister Hazel jumped into the public consciousness with their hit song “All for You,” the successful version of which appeared on their second album, …Somewhere More Familiar.
Since then, Sister Hazel has remained pretty active, founding Rockboat, an entertainment cruise that brings together artists and fans. And the new album has drawn praise from country enthusiasts, with John Lindsay rating it highly for Everything Country.
“It’s a country album from a rock band with great songwriting, catchy melodies, and a real honesty. That, my friends, is the very foundation of country music,” said John in his review.
