At Union Stage on Sept. 7, Kula Shaker celebrated K, an album well-known to USA audiences for its radio breakthrough during the height of Britpop. The band began the show with “Hey Dude,” and they included the unforgettable “Govinda” as the last song of their encore.

In 2024, Kula Shaker plan to release their seventh studio album, the title of which is unknown at this time. But Crispian Mills and company arrived with a lot of new songs, and the band performed five unreleased numbers during the show at Union Stage. Early in the show, they performed “Waves” and in the middle “Natural Magick,” both presumably slated for the new record. In the encore, Kula Shaker also performed new song “Indian Record Player.”
Kula Shaker recently released a video for “Waves!”

The tour was Kula Shaker’s first USA tour in at least seven years. As Kula Shaker has broken into an inspirational new period of activity, we suspect that we will see them sooner next time around.
Hometown DC indie rockers Home Remedies opened the show.
