Tamia Carter aka Flo Milli recently brought the heat to a cold fall night with her Thanks For Coming Here, Ho Tour at The Fillmore Silver Spring.
Kicking off the evening was opening artist and special guest, Maiya the Don, at The Fillmore on Nov. 2. This Brooklyn artist may be a rising star in the music scene but she delivered a fiery performance. Her songs were provocative yet full of confidence and paired with a beat that makes you just want to dance. She was exceptional at engaging with the crowd, often talking to them as if they were besties and even flirting. Her infectious smile and boundless energy breathed life into the audience. With the addition of backup dancers and a hype man, the atmosphere was complete, with the crowd enthusiastically chanting, “I love you, Maiya,” to which she responded with pure delight, yelling, “I love ya’ll too!”
This level of interaction was a refreshing surprise.. With the crowd now warmed up, joints loosened and mood boosted, we were ready for Flo Milli.
The stage was set with the theme being iconic reality tv shows and stars. A giant LED screen lit the stage and was paired with an inflatable sign that said “flo” mimicking the early 2000’s VH1’s logo. Flo Milli stepped out on the stage, greeted by an animated audience.
She opened with hits like “Bed Time” and “Roaring ’20s”. The crowd chanted along to the chorus with smiles plastered on their faces, and heads bopping. She took to the stage solo but her presence was felt from all angles, even jumping down to join the crowd on a couple of occasions. Flo Milli’s cadence and flow was impeccable as she rapped through her set with ease. She oozes confidence and effortlessly communicates that through her music which I believe is why so many fans connect with her style.

When the heavy bass filled the room for Flo’s hit song “Conceited,” the entire audience chanted along while waving their hands and phones in the air. It felt like one big party. Within the crowd were a group of people dancing their hearts out to each song. This was one of those concerts where you can really let loose and have a good time. Both Maiya the Don and Flo Milli succeeded at producing a very entertaining show.
The concert concluded with a fan tossing their wig from the balcony, an unexpected and amusing gesture that Flo Milli acknowledged with genuine surprise and appreciation. The crowd roared in approval, and it was the perfect way to encapsulate the evening’s atmosphere. Following her performance, Flo Milli returned quickly to take selfies with eager fans. This gracious gesture underscored her character, leaving me an even bigger fan than I was before.
