Mick Jenkins announced his 2024 Thank You For Waiting World Tour in support of his recent critically-acclaimed LP, The Patience, which was released in August by RBC Records/BMG.
The Chicago rapper performs at the Howard Theatre in DC on Sunday, Jan. 28.
Alongside the announcement, Jenkins unveiled a fresh music video for his track “MOP,” which serves as the closing song on The Patience. In a dimly lit room, Mick takes center stage with a solitary spotlight, where he delivers verses about his ongoing journey of personal development. The video effectively illustrates his evolution, initially showing Jenkins mopping the stage and later shifting to a scene where he watches from the audience, reflecting on his progress.

Through the process of creating The Patience, Jenkins deviated from his typically concept-driven method of making albums and experimented with a new approach entirely, something he believes has resulted in career-best music.
“A lot of these new songs were made when I stopped focusing on a concept and just wrote spontaneously to the beat,” Mick said. “It gave me a new level of freedom.”
And this freedom has resulted in an exhilarating looseness to Jenkins’ raps, infusing his always-barbed lyricism with a degree of free-spiritedness not seen in his catalog to date.
