Renowned R&B artist Tinashe recently sold out the 9:30 Club for her BB Ang3l tour. From the beginning, you could tell this was gearing up to be a great night just from how eager fans were to enter as they waited in a line that wrapped around the block. Seeing their smiling faces only added to the energy. There was this amazing sense of camaraderie in the air, and I watched strangers become fast friends as they bonded over their mutual love for Tinashe.
Opening artist and self proclaimed Jersey Club Queen Uniiqu3 did a great job at offering bass thumping beats to get the energy up at 9:30 Club on Feb. 6. As her set ended and the countdown began for Tinashe to arrive, the energy in the room intensified. The crowd watched as the digital clock hit zero and suddenly the pop/ r&b princess Tinashe graced the stage.
Tinashe kicked things off with “Treason,” setting a soulful vibe that had everyone swaying along. Things quickly ramped up with her next song “X.” An upbeat tune and one of her standout songs. This is when the dancers graced the stage. A group of four men in casual street attire to match the fashionable urban inspired attire Tinashe herself wore.

Dancing is one of the particular areas where Tinashe shines so it was exciting to see her incorporate choreography into her performance. At times, her supporting dancers doubled as visual storytellers and set the atmosphere during the handful of brief interludes. They gave a poetic performance, infusing hip hop, contemporary and vogue-like movements.
Of course we cannot forget that it was this Aquarius star’s birthday. Since her arrival, fans were audibly shouting a mix of “I love you’s” and “Happy Birthday!” during her set. Halfway through, her team bought out a cake. And with no direction needed, the crowd sang happy birthday. She felt the love from her DMV fans and kindly thanked them with a beaming smile.
Throughout the night, Tinashe showcased her versatility as a performer, effortlessly shifting between introspective ballads and high-energy anthems. From the ethereal “Ghetto Boy” to the energetic tunes of “Cash Race,” “2 On,” “Throw a Fit,” and her latest hit “Needs.” Her vocals were flawless and a reminder of the many years she’s put into honing her skills.
