Thus Love is a post-punk trio from Vermont consisting of three young people who sound like they actually hail from England circa 1980. Thus Love are signed to Captured Tracks and released Memorial, a debut album, in 2022 and followed it up with some singles last year.
While we don’t know if Thus Love have new music, the band are making a stop at Comet Ping Pong on Friday, March 8, and we think it’s a must-see event for fans who appreciate vocalists like Gary Numan and Peter Murphy.
The most recent single that we know from Thus Love is “Centerfield.” The song’s music video was directed by Augie Voss and Benni Shumlin.

“In the age of advertisement and the internet, attention is a resource being stolen and memory feels at risk of extinction. This video is a time stamp of determination and incubation of what was, is, and shall be. This song is for the dreamers who hold onto mystery, who embrace the reality of that which we are now bred to forget.”

Thus Love traces its beginnings to a serendipitous meeting of Echo Mars and Lu Racine at a local print shop in 2018, when the multi-instrumentalists agreed to collaborate on a new musical project. The band was just starting to regularly headline renowned local venue The Stone Church when everything came to a sudden and screeching halt during the COVID pandemic. Rather than idly wait, the band decided to take their future in their own hands. Armed with nothing but YouTube videos and her innate curiosity, Mars constructed a makeshift studio in their rented apartment above downtown Brattleboro, recording during odd hours when their next-door neighbors were out and about.
Vocalist and guitarist Echo Mars and drummer Lu Racine are joined by new bassist Ally Julien and touring guitarist and synth player Shane Blank.
