Craig David ended the North American leg of his 7 Days Commitment Tour recently at the Warner Theater in DC. David announced it had been over 20 years since he performed in the Nation’s Capital. Fans of the UK sensation filled the theater expecting to be drifted into 2000’s nostalgia and that expectation was surely met!
At the Warner Theatre on May 16, the show kicked off with the viral hit “What’s Your Flava?” With this selection, Craig David set the tone for an amazing night to come. The live band added an extra spark to the evening as he belted out hit after hit. Concert-goers stayed on their feet all night long as David serenaded and danced his way through our hearts.
His mashup of “Got it Good” remixed with Zapp and Roger’s “Computer Love” made the crowd go crazy, me included! The way the band blended OG hits with modern flair kept smiles on everyone’s faces.
“Born To Do It” is arguably one of the best Pop/R&B albums of the millennium. Hits like “7 Days” and “Fill Me In” are timeless classics that will forever be fan favorites to new and old listeners. To be in the presence of these tracks performed live, after being released over two decades ago, was a moment.

David never lost or skipped a beat. He is the same Pop icon that graced the scene many moons ago. When he smiled into the crowd, it was proof he was still a heartthrob to many.
David spoke to the lovers, as couples magnetically drew closer to their partners while being whisked away by “Rendezvous.” I looked left and right as love filled the air. The power of the love ballad was evident as his music released a sense of calm over the room. Hands were thrown in air as the lyrics escaped the crowd and swirled the room in unison.
The night brought many special moments from sentimental dialogue to experiencing songs sung live for the first time.
David gave the audience what they wanted and more importantly gave them what they needed as well. A night filled with amazing vocals and nostalgia to match. Personally, it was amazing to see one of my longtime favorite artists put on such a spectacular show. David is a pivotal artist who bridged the gap between UK artistry and American fandom. His mark on the industry remains unmatched to this day.
