In 2023, The Reverend Horton Heat released a covers album, Roots of the Rev. (Volume One). In his current tour, The Reverend is working some of those covers into his setlist, showcasing some of the “great musicians and artists that shaped my life and the music of The Reverend Horton Heat,” as frontman Jim Heath says.
The Reverend Horton Heat recently performed at Baltimore Soundstage, and Steve Satzberg was there to photograph the show.
On May 29 at Baltimore Soundstage, The Reverend Horton Heat performed five covers across an estimated 19 songs. Four of those covers sprang directly from Roots of the Rev. (Volume One): “Three Days” by Willie Nelson “Twenty Flight Rock” by Eddie Cochran “Right Strong, Wrong Yo-You” by Carl Perkins “Rockin’ Bones” by Ronnie Dawson
To the delight of Baltimore Soundstage’s patrons, The Reverend Horton Heat closed the encore with another cover: “Ace of Spades” by Motorhead.
