Nigerian-born singer Tems has embarked on her first-ever world tour following the success of her album Born in the Wild. The tour recently made a highly anticipated stop at The Anthem in Washington, DC, with tickets selling out two weeks in advance!
Warming up the crowd was DJ K-Meta, who spun an exciting mix of Afrobeats hits, at The Anthem on Sept. 1. The audience was grooving from the start, and DJ K-Meta’s infectious energy set the perfect tone for the night.
The first live performance came from Naomi Sharon. Following the release of her recent album Obsidian, Naomi wowed the audience with her soothing and majestic voice. Accompanied by guitarist Chrissie, her acoustic performance added a deep richness to the atmosphere. She performed hits like “Another Life” and “Definition of Love,” showcasing her vocal range and intimate stage presence. By the end of her set, it was clear Naomi was gonna be remembered.

Lastly, Tems took the stage and immediately raised the energy. Dressed in a striking red outfit that contrasted beautifully with her wild-west-themed backdrop, she launched straight into her hit “Crazy Tings.” The live band and backup singers brought an exciting dynamic to the performance, making every moment feel immersive. Her voice was as powerful and authentic as on her records, impressing everyone in attendance. The crowd sang along to every track, from “Free Mind” and “Me & U” to “Higher.” She even treated the audience to some of her collaborative hits, including the fan-favorite “Essence.”
