Orion Sun, born Tiffany Majette, released Orion in September via Mom+Pop Records. In a statement on Bandcamp, Orion Sun reflected on her new album: “I used to ask my neighbor/friend around my grandmas way if i could borrow his ipod shuffle. i would listen to music i couldnt at home, it took me places i never thought existed. you are someplace else. completely out of your control. it almost feels like magic. and then its over. i want to create a small pocket in this infinite space to maybe rest in and explore before venturing on.”
At 9:30 Club on Nov. 9, Orion Sun played through at least 10 tracks of the new album, including singles “Already Gone” and “Mary Jane.”

At its core, Orion is a heart split open, examined and mended; moulded into something new. And as it washes over you, there’s a sense that it’s not only fuelled by but infused with love in all its forms for self, for others, for the world around us — crafted by an artist who has met and knows herself on a deeper level than we’ve seen yet.
“Already Gone” sees Orion picking up where she left off, capturing a moment in her life where the future she set out for herself drastically changed with the dismantlement of her romantic relationship, ultimately representing a transition for the young artist that sees her leave her life in New York and move to Los Angeles, and ultimately the start to the creative endeavor of unearthing this new staggering body of work. Enveloped through a strong connection to nature that runs deep throughout the album, “Mary Jane” tells a journey of love and incredible hardship and joy that it can bring. Through an earnest exploration and surrender to love, she brilliantly soundtracks a spellbinding coming of age story. “Sweet” reveals Orion’s personal and strikingly earnest exploration of self, unearthing the complexities of our humanity in which we can find ourselves to be our own biggest champions while also our worst enemies.
As seen through the standout tracks, Orion arrives in breathtaking form with her self-titled album, deeply multi-dimensional and brimming with earnest authenticity that resonates with millions around world, dazzling in its beauty and strength.
