Doechii the Don, Doechii the Dean, Doechii Supreme, The Swamp Ruler — Doechii recently performed at Union Stage DC. Leading up to the final stop of The Alligator Bites Never Heal Tour, Doechii has been ruling the rap game. In every aspect possible, she’s a lyrical genius, a fashion goddess, and your rapper’s favorite rapper.
At Union Stage on Nov. 14, Doechii’s bold, confident, and animated style graced the stage as she performed “Boom Bap,” causing the DC crowd to erupt and rap every bar.
Audience engagement was palpable even before the show began, as supporters dressed in the tour’s aesthetic — preppy, private school attire — filled the venue. Before the show, I met Mz. Dream, who was excited to finally see Doechii in concert. She has been supporting her since her YouTube days and told me, “This concert meant so much more than a concert for me!” It was also her birthday, and seeing one of your favorite artists on your special day is rare. Not only did Mz. Dream get a chance to see Doechii on her birthday, but she was also crowned best dressed at the show. She had the opportunity to go on stage, show off her outfit, and dance in front of the crowd.
I love seeing artists acknowledge and appreciate their supporters in real time. You never know what a person is going through and how they relate to your music, or how much it may inspire them.
During the show, Doechii performed “Wait,” which is one of my favorite songs from the mixtape. There’s a line in the song that says, “I’s been dreamin’ of fishes since I been watching the Grammys,” and some people interpret dreaming of fish as a sign of spiritual alignment with beliefs, transformation, creation, and overcoming obstacles.

I believe we have seen this dream manifest as she has navigated numerous challenges over the last few years. Now, when I hear those lyrics, I automatically smile because Doechii is the Most Nominated Female Rapper of the 2025 Grammys. Nomination included Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Album — all from her mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal.
Becoming very emotional at the end of the show, Doechii thanked her tour crew and her supporters, reflecting on a time when she almost gave up. She expressed her gratitude for not only her journey but also for the unwavering support of her fans. Congratulations, Doechii, on your success — you are truly 🗣️ EVERYTHING!!!
