Virginia native Tommy Richman released his debut full-length album, Coyote, in 2024, and he blew up fast! Tommy recently took the Coyote Tour to the Howard Theatre for a sold-out show, and Chris Castillo was there to photograph the concert.

Coyote debuted as Tommy Richman’s first album following the record-breaking star being signed to fellow DMV-native Brent Faiyaz’s label, ISO Supremacy/PULSE Records. The LP contains songs that began years ago when Tommy was broke and lonely but confident in his art. In early 2024, he finalized these sketches and ideas in the desert. The rugged terrain and big skies inspired Tommy, who sees COYOTE as a thematic follow-up to his 2022 EP, Alligator, and the second installment of his ANIMAL Trilogy.
COYOTE is about artistry and range. After years on the grind, the new album will close out a dominating 2024, during which Tommy’s “Million Dollar Baby” debuted at No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, and hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Global 200 chart. On March 18 at the Howard Theatre, Tommy closed a two-song encore with “Acting Up” and “Million Dollar Baby.”

In addition to singles and tracks from Coyote, Tommy Richman reached back to Alligator for a few songs, and he covered “Bunker/PreRoll” by his opener Mynameisntjmack toward the middle of the show, and Mynameisntjmack joined him for the performance. Mynameisntjmack returned to stage to close out the main set of the show with “Seems like time moves forever,” a song he co-wrote with Richman for Coyote.
