DC indie rock quintet Sub-Radio recently played two shows at 9:30 Club — an early show and a late show! They were there to tour their sophomore full-length album, Sunrise City, which was released in May.

For their two shows on July 12, Sub-Radio performed two different sets, drawing mostly from the new album in their early show. They started with the album’s title track and continued with highlights like “Pink Lemonade” and “Don’t Cry.” Along the way, the band added a smattering of tunes from their earlier albums, nodding to their 2018 EP, Headfirst, and 2023 EP, Past Selves.
Toward the end of the set, Sub-Radio swung back to Sunrise City and spread good vibes with their new song “Nothing’s Broken.”

For their late show, Sub-Radio played less of Sunrise City and gave some love to debut EP Same Train // Different Station (2016). They began with that album’s “Intro,” appropriately enough. But both concerts ended the same with an encore closer of crowd-pleaser “1990Something” from Past Lives.

Los Angeles electropop trio Moontower and Nashville indie pop duo Doublecamp opened Sub-Radio at 9:30 Club. In the first set of the night, Moontower joined Sub-Radio for a performance of “Better View” from Sunrise City.
