Vivacious popstar Maggie Lindemann is currently touring the USA, and she recently stopped by for a highly energized show at DC’s 9:30 Club. Lindemann is supporting her second album, I Feel Everything, which was released last fall.
Lindemann has been on the scene for several years now becoming well-known for her hit song “Pretty Girl” — released back in 2016. The song was very successful for Lindemann reaching high on the charts in Europe. That has been a decade now, and with the new album release, Lindemann shows her maturity, songwriting ability, and versatility. This new music may be her best yet. She barely spoke to the crowd during the show at 9:30 Club on Feb. 26, deciding to basically play non-stop for 90 minutes or more covering about 25 songs from her current setlist.
This strategy worked! Fans witnessed her ability to play an extended set, as she engaged them each step of the way while creating great music with her band with the songs from the new album.
Lindemann started her show with great vocals, and non-stop energy moving across the stage in unique dance movements playing “Fang,” “Spine,” and “Joyride” in a dark, moody setting with a smoky feel and backlighting accentuating the stage and surrounding music hall.
Watch the official lyric video for “joyride” by Maggie Lindemann on YouTube:
Lindemann’s dynamic dance moves and sultry stage presence are highlights of her current set. She is one of the best movers on stage in the current music industry. Without a doubt she shows her extreme energy level as well, and ability to dance to the music she is playing as well as anyone in the dance genre. However, I felt her songwriting ability has evolved substantially, and while her entire new album is superb, I thought the songs “Fate” and “Split” stood out with beautiful vocals and music that resonated well with the audience in attendance.
Near the end of the set, Maggie played what may be my favorite Lindemann song, which is “She Knows It,” a hard-driving, catchy pop number with outstanding vocals with a rock a huge rock sound.
Lindemann finished the night with what may be her song of hope, “Hear Me Out” telling the fans that she had one more song to sing and would appreciate if they sang along with her. She finished with a fantastic version of the song closing out a highly successful night of music along with Valentine’s opening set, which was also outstanding.
Opening the night was Ayleen Valentine from Los Angeles, who played a 40-minute set of catchy and edgy music. Valentine is opening the Lindemann tour by also supporting her latest recording, Little Rainbows After Death. Valentine’s music is influenced by electronic style music and Radiohead.
The show was very music-forward with a no-nonsense approach that should gain more fans for Lindemann and will continue pushing her to the next level with her music and sound.
