Hip-hip and country sweetheart Post Malone came to Jiffy Lube Live in Bristow, Virginia, last week and delivered one of the best performances I’ve seen to date. Not only is his music top-tier, but his full-fledged performance production and dedication to his fans made his show more than unforgettable.
Hit after hit, Post played a setlist full of energy and emotion at Jiffy Lube Live on July 26. Currently on his sixth headlining tour, his If Y’all Weren’t Here, I’d Be Crying Tour, Post played songs ranging from the very dawn of his career to songs that were unreleased at the time of the show.
Since last Wednesday, Post has dropped a new album, Austin, which Post bragged about during his show in Bristow, saying, “I got to play the guitar in each track.”
Post opened with bangers like “Better Now, Wow.,” “Psycho,” and more, which lit the crowd up from the beginning. Toward the middle of his set, he played slower songs such as “Feeling Whitney” and “Stay.” He even invited a fan on stage to accompany him on the guitar during “Stay.” He showed his incredibly deep love and appreciation for his fans throughout his set, but this was a perfect example of it. He followed his fan’s lead on guitar, singing the song to her tempo, and encouraging her the whole time as she played for a nearly sold-out 25,000-person capacity venue.
His genuine kindness toward each of his fans went a long way in making the show feel intimate and well worth the time. Further, between nearly each song, and especially toward the end of the night, Post made multiple remarks to the audience about how amazing each one of us is, and how we’re all capable of achieving our dreams no matter what. He repeated this over and over again, making sure to instill it in each of us.

With tons of pyrotechnics and more lights than you can imagine, Post’s technical and design crew did a phenomenal job bringing his music and performance to life. Songs like “Congratulations” and “Wow.” had amazing technical aspects which I hadn’t seen with any other artist, such as shifting light design and coordinated flames from all around the area above the stage.
Though he played plenty of songs that I was already familiar with, Post also played a new song called “Enough Is Enough,” which was released last Friday on his new album, and I fell in love with it. It was one of my favorites on his setlist, and I recommend giving it a listen if you have the chance. More songs that stuck with me more than I imagined they would are “Wrapped Around Your Finger,” “Too Young,” and of course (because it was so interactive and fun) “Stay.”

Another part of the show worthy of mention was after the encore. Post Stayed in the photo pit next to the barricade greeting every fan possible. As the lawn and seated audience left, he stayed behind with fans in the standing area for at least twenty minutes after his last song, which was when I left. I’ve never seen an artist do this, and I think it speaks volumes to his down-to-earth personality and his gratitude to his fans.
