Suki Waterhouse’s tour recently stopped at The Anthem in DC to great audience reception and support. Thousands in attendance were treated to a night of fantastic, and uplifting music from the indefatigable actress/model.
After recently giving birth, Suki Waterhouse has returned to touring this year and is currently on her Sparklemuffin Tour 2024 supporting her current album Memoir of a Sparklemuffin.
At The Anthem on Dec. 11, Alice Bognanno, who fronts the band Bully, opened the show to great fan approval with a performance that included her trademark guitar solos and vocals.
Bully has been opening this current tour with Waterhouse, which started in Houston back in October of this year and is scheduled to conclude near the end of December with a show in Atlanta.
Bully is touring while supporting her latest album, Lucky for You.
The concert contrasted well with the darker stage set and harder guitar approach from Bully to the new well-lit stage production by Waterhouse. While Waterhouse’s last tour in DC over a year ago at Black Cat may have been similar to Bully’s current tour set-up, the current set is very dynamic, colorful, and propels Waterhouse to a new level of production with a dynamic and colorful staging, which was outstanding in highlighting the new album.
Waterhouse writes her own songs; she is a brilliant lyricist, with beautiful vocals that were on full display during this show at The Anthem.
Watch the official lyric video for “Gateway Drug” by Suki Waterhouse on YouTube:
Waterhouse, also an actress who featured heavily in the mini-series Daisy Jones & the Six with Riley Keough, was very talkative, and she conversed well with the devoted audience throughout the concert. At times, Waterhouse would take pauses on stage, sit-down, and converse with the audience in a very friendly approach as she emphasized, she was there to entertain the fun crowd on hand that night. Her latest tour continues to show Waterhouse’s evolvement as a performer taking her shows to a more mainstream approach playing bigger and bigger venues each night. The tour has sold-out numerous shows already.
During the show, Waterhouse even took time to wish happy birthday to one member of the audience during her fantastic set, which includes new staples “Gateway Drug” to the very personal and uplifting “Model, Actress, Whatever,” both songs from her latest release. The latter, a personal favorite of mine, actually highlights Waterhouse’s unique talent of specific lyrics and soaring vocals, which really accentuates her lyrics.
After a few minutes off-stage to set up the encore, Waterhouse and band saved the best to last with one of her greatest songs “Good Looking” to finish the highly anticipated concert in great fashion.
The evening of music was highly satisfying, and one of the best shows I have seen all year. I look forward to a future of more musical offerings from Waterhouse and watching her continued growth as a profound lyricist and vocalist.
