Acclaimed Annapolis, Maryland-based trio Pressing Strings preformed at Rams Head on Stage on Dec. 22, and Steve Satzberg was there to photograph the show!

Pressing Strings recently released a new album, Minutes to Midnight, marking a busy period for the band. Minutes to Midnight followed 2023’s …And I For You.

Speaking of the new record, the band says on Bandcamp: “For Minutes to Midnight, we returned to Steve Wright at Wrightway studios in Baltimore, Maryland. When we were ready with a package of new tunes we all thought fit together, we brought in our incredible friend and multi-instrumentalist Austin Day to play all the wonderful keys parts your hear on the record.”

The influences for the music of Pressing Strings range from folk, blues, rock, funk, soul, and reggae.

Pressing Strings — Jordan Sokel (guitar, vocals), Nick Welker (bass, vocals), and Justin Kruger (drums, vocals) — first formed in 2006 while Sokel was still in college. The band officially debuted in 2008 with their album, Where We Are, and now has a deep catalog that includes the albums Episodes (2010), Pressing Strings (2012), Life of a Tree (2013), Owe the Source (2015), Settle In (2020), …And I For You (2023), and Minutes to Midnight (2024), as well as two EPs: Most of Us (2016) and Morning Takes (2021).
