Livestreaming be damned, an artist can’t feasibly bring a crowd into their own living room. But they can most certainly create a comparable atmosphere in a venue setting.
As musicians have come to increasingly appreciate the intimate engagement, the past few years have seen several high-profile names perform from the cozy confines of a couch or an armchair.
Band of Horses billed the shows on the group’s current tour as two-set affairs: one acoustic, one electric. As a favorite rock band for so many over the past two decades, the Seattle-born group likely would have packed any Baltimore venue this past weekend.
As predicted, the lure of being entranced and consoled by this outfit’s impassioned songs in various forms resulted in a colorful sellout at Baltimore Soundstage the Friday evening of Feb. 9.

Parklife DC took in such a performance at The Fillmore Silver Spring in late January as part of Band of Horses’ current tour, and we were on hand again as Ben Bridwell and his boys swung back through the Charm City for what was an Inner Harbor show for the ages played before an enthusiastic shoulder-to-shoulder audience.
