John Mulaney has strong ties to DC. He graduated from Georgetown University in 2004! There he also met his “work wife” Nick Kroll. And it’s no surprise that the two gents went on to funnyman stardom in their collaborations together and separately.

Now a standup juggernaut, John, who has a delightful knowledge of pop culture, brings his fast-on-his-feet wit to The Anthem for five shows in his new Mister Whatever Tour. Three of those five shows have sold out, but you can still grab tix for the last two on Saturday, Dec. 20, and Sunday, Dec. 21.

John Mulaney is a three-time Emmy Award, Critics Choice award, and WGA award-winning writer, comedian and actor. Most recently, Mulaney can be seen as the host, writer, and executive producer of his Netflix talk show EVERYBODY’S LIVE WITH JOHN MULANEY. The series features monologues, guests, pre-taped sketches, musical segments, and more. EVERYBODY’S IN LA, was a six-night live comedy series that explored Los Angeles during the Netflix Is A Joke Festival in 2024.

In December 2024, Mulaney starred in the Broadway play “All In: Comedy About Love,” alongside a cast including Fred Armisen, Richard Kind, and Renee Elise Goldsberry. Mulaney is currently on the first leg of his newest stand-up tour, JOHN MULANEY: MISTER WHATEVER, performing across North America. Mulaney can next be seen in the Amazon MGM Studios film, MADDEN, an upcoming American biographical sports drama directed by David O. Russell. Mulaney has appeared in the last two seasons on the beloved FX Emmy award-winning series THE BEAR. Mulaney’s last Netflix stand-up special, BABY J, released in April 2023, tackles his personal turmoil into comedic brilliance. BABY J earned him a 2023 Emmy win for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special and additional nomination for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded). BABY J also received the 2024 Critics Choice Award for Best Comedy Special (non-televised).

Mulaney consistently tours and sells out amphitheaters, theaters, arenas, and more around the world, from Madison Square Garden to the Hollywood Bowl. His 2023 tour dates included shows across the US, Europe, and Australia. Previous tours, which turned into award-winning specials, include the 2018 Emmy-winning Kid Gorgeous, 2015’s The Comeback Kid, which The AV Club called the “best hour of his career,” and 2012’s New In Town, which saw Entertainment Weekly hailing him as “one of the best stand-up comics alive.” Mulaney has hosted Saturday Night Live six times. He was a writer for the show starting in 2008, where he created memorable characters such as ‘Stefon’ with Bill Hader and worked with hundreds of hosts on their monologues. He has written and appeared in IFC’s Documentary Now! and Netflix’s Big Mouth, in which he voices the character of Andrew.

In December 2019, the critically acclaimed Emmy-nominated musical variety special John Mulaney & The Sack Lunch Bunch debuted on Netflix. He also starred on Broadway in the runaway hit Oh, Hello On Broadway, written and performed alongside his long-time friend Kroll. The duo also released a Netflix special of the same name and a hit limited-edition podcast called Oh, Hello: The P’dcast, based on their characters Gil Faizon and George St. Geegland.
