Shinedown’s recent live concert at the SERVPRO Pavilion at the Meadow Event Park in Doswell, Virginia, was a thrilling event that showcased their dynamic performance style and extensive catalog of hits.
Because of a lightning delay on August 2, the concert began at late and the show started with a dramatic entrance, featuring a video montage and the band emerging from behind massive video screens.
Opening with the one-two punch of “Devil” and “Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom) the band grabbed the crowd’s attention and didn’t let go for the rest of the night for this entry on the Planet Zero World Tour.
Shinedown played a mix of songs from several albums, including popular tracks like the powerful “45,” “Second Chance,” and “Sound of Madness” from The Sound of Madness, as well as newer songs such as “A Symptom of Being Human” and “Planet Zero” from their latest album Planet Zero. The setlist even included a couple of covers: Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” and Jimmy Eat World’s “The Middle.”

Their dynamic stage setup featured crystal clear sound and impressive pyrotechnics. One standout feature was two giant vertical video screens behind the band, that displayed amazing images and videos throughout the show, and created a central focal point for the band’s performance.
Shinedown’s concerts are not just about the music but also about the emotional connection they establish with their fans. Lead singer Brent Smith shared heartfelt comments and encouraged the audience to not be fearful and divisive and that they deserved better and are stronger together in this world.
His amazingly powerful vocals filled the rainy night with incredible passion and during the song “A Symptom of Being Human,” Brent even had the crowd get out their cell phones and light up the venue like a sea of stars. Bassist Eric Bass stayed onstage with Brent and played piano during this lovely and emotional song.
Throughout the set, drummer Barry Kerch was all smiles and hair flips while bashing away at his drums and guitarist Zach Meyers roamed the entire stage while riffing and shredding away madly on his guitars. Eric Bass filled the bottom end, played the piano and provided backing vocals during the set as well.
The bands unforgettable performance on a rainy Friday night, was filled with both musical and emotional highs, and along with their engaging stage presence, it made the audience feel like they were part of the Shinedown family.
