Nothing More’s North American leg of the Carnal Nature World Tour opened recently, launching a run featuring Catch Your Breath with special guests Archers and Doobie, at The Fillmore Silver Spring. The venue was packed shoulder to shoulder for the show.

Archers delivered a tight, melodic set with effortlessly clean vocals and a driving sound- focused and cohesive — with a clear sense of purpose. Their eight-song setlist opened with “Made for Love,” with its chugging intro setting the tone for the night’s performance on Jan. 14. Energy remained high all throughout the set with “Perfect Strangers” rounding off a powerful and intense performance that has surely left fans in anticipation for what’s sure to be a big year for the band.

The show’s headliner Nothing More was able to effortlessly sustain a powerful intensity through the entire set. Lead vocalist Jonny Hawkins stepped behind a second drum kit for a back-and-forth with Ben Anderson — an effective reminder of his roots as the band’s original drummer. At one point, three members converged on bassist Daniel Oliver’s custom “bassinator,” highlighting the band’s ability to, quite literally, play together.
Nothing More weren’t just locked in with each other — they had a knack for pulling the crowd into the action. At one point, they took a poll by cheers to let the audience decide which song to play; “Spirits” won out. Crowd interaction remained a constant, with Hawkins keeping energy high and engagement strong throughout the set. Another standout moment came when guitarist Mark Vollelunga left the stage to play as close to the crowd as possible, breaking down the barrier between band and audience.

Production at The Fillmore Silver Spring was consistently strong: clear, balanced sound with no distortion or fatigue, and practical comforts — like water handed out to the crowd — made it easy to stay focused on the music. Staff, as always, were very attentive to fan safety throughout the night.
While all the bands delivered powerful sets, and an enthralling show; what stands out the most after a night like this isn’t just the spectacle or the volume, but the sense that everyone — on stage and off — was invested in the music and the moment.
