Power metal stalwarts Kamelot performed at The Fillmore Silver Spring recently to launch the second leg of The Shadow Tour, and Paivi Salonen shot the show!
Japanese kawaii metal band Babymetal stormed The Anthem recently! The duo of Su-metal and Moametal performed songs from their upcoming record, Metal Galaxy, and everyone had a crazy good time. Paivi was there to shoot the show, but ultimately we had two photos approved. So here they are!
In October, Alter Bridge releases Walk the Sky, the band’s sixth studio album, via Napalm Records. In the lead up to that release, Alter Bridge are now on tour with Skillet, and the bands appear together at MECU Pavilion on Sunday, Sept. 22, for their Victorious Sky Tour.
The Knotfest Roadshow tore into Jiffy Lube Live recently, featuring a quartet of some of the heaviest metal bands from around the world. The tour’s creators, Slipknot, were joined in support by three bands from Europe- Behemoth (Poland), Gojira (France), and Volbeat (Denmark).

There’s something special about watching Halestorm perform in the middle of an actual storm. Winds blew rain deep into the covered seating area while lightning lit up the skies surrounding the venue, seemingly in tandem with the show’s light sequence. Real thunder wasn’t audible over lead singer and rhythm guitarist Lzzy Hale’s belts and roaring instrumentals, which were thunderous on their own — in a good way.
Alice in Chains stopped in Bristow, Virginia, recently to perform several AIC classics. The band are currently on a North American summer tour with fellow hard-rockers Korn, and I was able to see them perform at Jiffy Lube Live! Of course, I brought my camera along, and I was allowed to photograph Alice in Chains from the soundboard for the first three songs.
California metal band Neuroris will reissue their collaboration NEUROSIS & JARBOE, originally released in 2003, on Aug. 3. Days later, Neuroris storms 9:30 Club. You can win tickets to go with Parklife DC.
