Released in May, The Process delves into lead singer and main songwriter Judah Akers’ personal journey with grief, encompassing the loss of family members to suicide and the dissolution of his marriage all within a mere six months. The 19-track album is a soul-baring song cycle that wrestles with the five stages of grief — Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance — and ultimately finds beauty and purpose in the pain.
At The Fillmore Silver Spring on Oct. 18, Judah and the Lion dedicated roughly of their setlist to The Process, including an early performance of the powerful “Floating in the Night.”

Since the band’s debut EP in 2012, Judah & the Lion (Judah Akers and Brian Macdonald) have put out genre-bending music to widespread acclaim, with more than 910 million career streams, infusing their Americana/folk songwriting with elements of hip-hop, pop, and alternative. Never a stranger to vulnerability, the band’s previous albums addressed themes of heartache and addiction (2019’s Pep Talks), as well as resilience, and reclaiming their innocence after years of chaotic success (2022’s Revival).
