Beauty is in the eye of the beerholder, goes the famous T-shirt slogan, and it was a beautiful day indeed at Storey Park for the 5th Annual Beer Fest by Drink the District.

Hundreds upon hundreds of attendees enjoyed samples of more than 100 beers, ciders, meads, and more, as the overcast weather made it a simply fabulous time to be outdoors. If I have to stand without cover in Storey Park for an afternoon, I couldn’t have asked for better than the warm but cloudy day we experienced on Saturday.

For four hours, beer drinkers checked their cares at the gate and conducted themselves with remarkable grace as they drank up everything in sight. Regional breweries on hand included Denizens Brewing, DC Brau, Hardwood Park Craft Brewing, Heavy Seas, Devil’s Backbone, and more. A number of DC’s best food trucks were on hand to provide us with a late lunch or dinner, depending on your schedule. Personally I enjoyed the cheesy goodness of Capmac for the first time, and it’s a truck I would patronize again!

Guests played lawn games like cornhole or lounged at picnic tables. Otherwise, DJ Julian Rivera led the musical entertainment to keep people dancing. And Nationals mascot Teddy stopped by and posed for pictures.
