The Zombies (Photo by Andrew Eccles)
The Zombies surely make for an unlikely success story. By the release of their seminal album, Odessey and Oracle, in 1968, the band broke up. Early in 1969, “Time of the Season” from the album became a hit in the United States, but The Zombies weren’t there to enjoy the attention.
Many years later Rod Argent (organist and vocals) and Colin Blunstone (lead vocals) realized they had a good thing, patched up their differences, and reformed The Zombies. The Zombies have gone on to be a sensational touring act. The Englishmen even have continued to write and record new material, most recently releasing Still Got That Hunger, their sixth studio album, in 2015 via The End Records.
Still, The Zombies always will be best known for Odessey and Oracle, and so it’s fortuitous that the band have launched a 50th anniversary tour to salute the album. That tour stops at 9:30 Club on Thursday, March 23, and you can win tickets to go see The Zombies!
First, watch The Zombies perform “Time of The Season” on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Sept. 13, 2011:
