The last album by DC ska legends The Pietasters may be All Day, released 10 years ago, but the rocksteady collective continues to tour regularly. (Parklife DC saw them recently at Snallygaster beer festival!) As part of their annual routine, The Pietasters perform a holiday show at 9:30 Club, and you can win a pair of tickets to see their next one on Friday, Nov. 24.
“While playing live they can’t get away with not including most of [1995 album] Oolooloo in the set, but they try to slip in as many cuts from All Day as they can. The Pietasters continue to deliver a world-class performance of their style of Ska, Rock and Soul – sing along songs and dance-through-your-socks rhythms played by friends who remain true to their roots. A new album is in the works and they can’t wait to get back to a club near you,” The Pietasters say on their website.

“Model Citizen” and just about anything else that’s fast.
I saw the Pietasters open for the Violent Femmes on New Years Eve what must be 10 years ago or more, and they were great! I’d LOVE to see them again!! Their song Out All Night is one of my faves!!
All day da!
The first time I saw the Pietasters they opened up for the Bosstones sometime in the 90’s at Bohager’s in Baltimore after they remodeled the club. It is tough to pick a favorite, but anything with Selah especially “Can’t Stand It” and you cannot discount their covers of the Rolling Stones “Bitch or Let’s Spend the Night Together”.
The first time I saw the Pietasters was in the 90’s when they opened up for the Mighty Mighty Bosstones at the old Bohager’s in Baltimore, MD. It is tough to pick a favorite song, anything with Selah especially “Can’t Stand It” and you cannot discount their cover of The Rolling Stones “Bitch”.
Keep On Lyin’ Is my favorite!
First time I saw these cats played a show with them in Olympia Wa. Then they stayed at our freak show of a house. Loved the first record but when then oolooloo came out and Biblical Sense has been with me since then. That and Maggie Mae are the 1st songs of theirs I play for my kids.
