Dayon Greene recently shared the video for “Big Steppa” off his 2020 debut album, Me.
Inspired by his love for soccer the visual is an homage to the game (“If you not playing to win, what you playing fo?”), but much could be said off the field. Where power and precision collide, Dayon intricately weaves parallels from the sport to his experience as an artist. On the cusp of stardom, the DMV rapper shows what staying the course gets you.
Outlining the journey that started from childhood (“I been a big steppa ever since I was a lil youngin”) to doing the work (“I been staying low grinding working on my craft”) and now reaping the fruit thereof (“Success the sweetest revenge”), Dayon is jam packed with stories and sounds that dance effortlessly on any beat.
The visual for “Big Steppa” continues a momentous past few months for DMV’s next up. Not too long ago, Dayon released Me joined with features from DMV native, O-Slice on “Commas” and The Kount on “We Can Make It,” beautifully marrying words over instruments to tell a story. This is just the beginning of Dayon’s wonderfully crafted story of adventures to last a lifetime.
