Donald Fagen fronted Steely Dan at Wolf Trap recently for the band’s Earth After Hours Tour, and Jason Nicholson photographed the band in action!
On the first of two nights at Wolf Trap on June 25, Steely Dan played their classic rock hits in The Filene Center.
The setlist drew songs from across the Steely Dan catalog, and it focused quite a bit on the albums Aja (1977) and Gaucho (1980). Donald and company performed the title track “Aja” early in the set and added fan-favorite “Peg” near the end. Tunes from Gaucho included “Hey Nineteen” early in the set and “Babylon Sisters” later in the show.

The encore of course included perennial radio-charmer “Reelin’ in the Years” from debut record Can’t Buy a Thrill (1972) to everyone’s approval.
