Welcome to the 2022 Thrushie Awards!
Please take this opportunity to vote for your favorite DC-area band, DC-area music venue, and DC-area music festival for the year. We have named choices in our polls below, but write-in candidates are welcome!
Voting for Thrushies runs through Friday, Dec. 9 at midnight.
Parklife DC will name the best local band of the year from your votes! These rock and pop acts have released new albums in the past year, and they are getting noticed around town, and sometimes around the country!
Parklife DC will name the DC best local music venue of the year with your input. The Thrushie Awards are open to DC-area music venues that host touring bands. These venues must be occupied by its owner-operator and not a “for-rent” concert hall operated by an independent agent. (This means places like Nats Park and the Warner Theatre do not qualify.)
As always, our Thrushie Awards are inspired by our mission to review live music concerts and spotlight bands and concert halls covered by Parklife DC. We get a lot of questions every year about DC’s great jazz venues. Our blog unfortunately doesn’t cover jazz, simply because we don’t have a dedicated jazz-smart contributor ready to run with it. We explore indie rock venues where bands may travel across a performance ecosystem as they bet larger. Bands that perform at Songbyrd Music House, for example, can go on to headline 9:30 Club someday.
Parklife DC will name the DC best music festival! The Thrushie Awards are open to DC-area music festivals. These festivals are in the National Capital Region, and often they occur annually.
Parklife DC will honor DC bands and venues with our send annual Thrushie Awards program, named for our mascot, DC’s own state bird — the Wood Thrush. Stay tuned for results on Dec. 12!
